Hydro One Rate Relief

All customers will receive assistance

Hydro One, Ontario’s largest electricity transmission and distribution service provider, has joined the Ontario government in offering their customers temporary off-peak utility pricing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In compliance with the government’s announcement to temporarily reduce Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing (as a measure to reduce the financial burden on customers who will stay at home during the novel coronavirus pandemic curfew), Hyrdo One will ensure that all it’s customers will be charged an off-peak flat rate. This measure will be in place for 45 days (as of the current situation), and is expected to reduce the average Hydro One residential user’s bill by 14.6% through payment of a flat rate of 10.1 cents per kWh.

Hydro One will automatically apply this measure to all customer’s bills. Customers need not take any action on their own, and can rest assured that they will receive the flat rate during these 45 days.

Earlier this month, Hydro One had introduced a Pandemic Relief Fund for customers affected by COVID-19 as financial assistance, along with more flexibility in payments. Additionally, the utility giant has extended their Winter Relief program to ensure no customer experiences disconnection of services.
